Fixed Energy Purchasing

Over the span of the last decade we have taken the time to develop one of the most comprehensive portfolios of suppliers across the industry. With access to 30+ suppliers and thousands of contract lengths and terms, you can rest assured we will be able to find the tariff to suit your requirements, providing you with not only a market leading price but budget certainty for the duration of the agreement.

Coupled with our industry leading customer service and account management we will ensure that you not only save money, but also have more time to focus on running your business. Furthermore, we have developed industry leading software to support businesses in every industry. Our solutions enable you to track your energy usage, manage contracts, arrange multi-site purchasing, organise and validate bills as well as meet any compliance and regulatory requirements you may have.

When we source your energy deal we’ll consider your sector, your preferred payment method, payments terms, contract duration, green credentials, credit score and live market conditions to get you the most accurate and tailored price.

Flexible Energy Purchasing

Flexible purchasing is a contractual framework with an energy supplier that is best suited for customers with a usage of 2GWh (2 Million kWh) or more, but this does not exclude consumptions below that point, as there are supplier-specific products that bridge the gap between a Fully Fixed Price and a Flexible Contract.

A “Flex” contract allows you to make purchasing decisions throughout the duration of the agreement, taking advantage of market fluctuations and protecting you against market increases. Flex contracts effectively remove the risk from the supplier and place it with the customer, but by working with our procurement specialists and devising a solid procurement strategy, the risk can be significantly mitigated.

Flex contracts provide a higher energy-consuming client the opportunity to make decisions that are dictated by the business needs throughout the year or based on fluctuations within the global economy.

Our team at eyebright has extensive experience working with different sectors and different flex arrangements, helping devise and implement procurement strategies suited to a client’s risk profile.

Flex Agreements Energy

Why Flex?

These are just some of the reasons our energy-intensive customers choose a flexible purchasing agreement:

Control over your budget.

Customisation in the terms of your agreement relative to your needs.

Depending on your attitude to risk your non-commodity costs can be fixed, passed- through or a combination of both.

Decision making power on your renewable and NetZero strategy.

Capability to meet compliance obligation.

Extensive purchasing strategies allowing you to procure on a cycle that suits your strategy.

Ability to sleeve existing or new PPA volume.

All supported by our in-house, market-leading reporting solutions.

Procurement Case Studies

  • We have listed four examples of case studies where our utility experts have assisted businesses in various industries. Can we tell you more about how we supported these organisations?

Commercial Property Management

  • We have helped a number of businesses with a large portfolio of meters and sites. They all faced the same dilemmas and pain points. One business in particular struggled to manage their utility contracts including contract end dates for over 300 meters. It meant they were often paying deemed / out of contract rates for longer than was necessary.
  • We implemented a long term procurement strategy that aligned with the business objectives. Our revolutionary portal enabled the company to not only manage their contracts and meters, but monitor consumption, leading to an efficient NetZero plan being implemented. We streamlined their processing and now they have a comprehensive understanding of their energy contracts and usage.

Multi-Site
Manufacturer

  • A large multi-site manufacturing business approached us in 2018 for advice on their energy procurement strategy. They needed budget certainty, at the lowest price, to enable them to model operational costs. Whilst the best rates were essential, advice and industry knowledge was critical to empower our client to make decisions at boardroom level.
  • As well as procuring energy agreements that met the needs of our client, we explored opportunities to improve water contracts, analysed and documented Climate Change Levy (CCL) information and submitted evidence to HMRC, met compliance obligations and delivered regular market knowledge and advice.

Food & Beverage Company

  • A multi-national, multi-site food and beverage business was focussed on an active procurement strategy that would enable the organisation to gain control over their energy costs and purchase the energy they required via a flexible agreement.
  • We conducted a tender exercise with suppliers on our flexible energy panel to find a supplier that met the objectives of the business. The requirements were tailored to their needs and then the flexible contract was implemented, monitored and evaluated weekly with a senior Director at eyebright.

Print Media
Company

  • One of the largest print media companies in the UK engaged with our procurement specialists as they had a problem – they wanted to achieve the lowest possible energy prices, whilst reducing their carbon footprint.
  • We began by understanding the business objectives and then went about sourcing green energy solutions, advising on ways the organisation could reduce their carbon footprint, implementing a sector specific climate change agreement and regularly monitoring and reporting on the progress being made.

Every business we support wants to ensure they’re receiving the best possible energy contract at the lowest possible price. We have over 30 direct relationships with suppliers and can ensure you are given transparent advice, but what else can we do for you? Do you want to relieve the pressure of complex administration? Can we help you with compliance and regulatory services? Are you being overcharged for water contracts? Do you want to actively manage your utilities with a flexible procurement strategy or have ambitions of reaching NetZero before 2050?

We can help you and your organisation.

Government Energy Support Scheme

The UK government launched the Energy Bill Relief Scheme on 1st October 2022 to help organisations with the rising cost of energy. The Energy Bill Relief Scheme offers a discount on the wholesale gas and electricity prices non-domestic customers pay. The scheme is due to end on the 31st March 2023.

The government recognised that further support was required, so the new Energy Bills Discount Scheme (EBDS) will run from the 1st April 2023 for 12 months. The new scheme will mean businesses, public sector institutions and voluntary organisations will receive a per unit discount on their energy bill, if the wholesale price is above the threshold level. The discounts are:

• Electricity – £19.61 per megawatt hour (MWh) with a price threshold of £302 per MWh.
• Gas – £6.97 per MWh with a price threshold of £107 per MWh

Organisations that meet the Energy and Trade Intensive Industries (ETIIs) criteria will receive a greater discount to ensure they remain competitive. These are typically energy-intensive businesses (manufacturing, food and beverage production and mining and metals sites). Organisations that meet the criteria will have the discount applied to 70% of their energy usage and the maximum discount and thresholds are:

• Electricity – £89 per MWh with a price threshold of £185 per MWh
• Gas – £40 per MWh with a price threshold of £99 per MWh

An energy procurement specialist at eyebright can help you understand what discount your business will receive and provide advice specific to your organisation. Enquire on our website or call us to find out more.
